Donating resources to TINC

If you or your organization would like to provide an additional name server for the TINC root, we would certainly appreciate the help. The bandwidth requirements are minimal, and less with the addition of name servers.

However, it is recomended that recursion and fetch-glue be turned off on the name server. This makes it unsuitable to be used directly for clients, or as a forwarder for other name servers. The best model is to use a dedicated non-recursive name server for TINC, and recursive name servers for the clients. Use a named.conf something like this named.conf on the non-recursive name server, then point all your recursive servers (used directly by the clients) to the new root using this root cache file.

If you would still like to provide a name server to the effort, contact TINC with the name and IP address of the name server. If there are no problems with the server, we'll add it to the root.zone as one of the root name servers.
